
Keeping Bathroom Infrared Heaters Safe (and Comfortable)
When you’re designing an infrared heater for a bathroom, you’re walking a tightrope. You want that instant, cozy heat—especially if there are babies in the house—but you can’t have the light be so harsh that it hurts someone’s eyes.
The trick to protecting eyes
Standard short-wave lamps are basically brightness bombs. They pump out visible light and UV rays that can be way too intense for a baby’s developing eyes. Nobody wants a heater that feels like a spotlight in an interrogation room. To fix this, we use specialized quartz glass with a bit of a twist. Think of it like a pair of sunglasses for the lamp. It blocks the blinding glare and the UV stuff but lets the actual heat glide right through. The result? A soft, warm glow. You get all the warmth you need to dry off a towel or warm up a chilly room, but without that blinding flash.
Dealing with the heat
We want these lamps to hit their peak temperature in seconds. To do that, we pack a lot of power into a tiny quartz tube. It’s incredibly efficient, but it creates a lot of stress on the hardware. Here is the thing: if you use cheap plastic sockets, they’re going to warp. Or worse, they’ll just melt. That’s why we stick with high-temperature ceramic holders. They can handle the constant heating and cooling without breaking a sweat.
The trade-off
Now, you can’t have everything. By filtering out those harsh wavelengths to keep eyes safe, the lamp isn’t going to light up the room like a stadium floodlight. But honestly? That’s fine. You aren’t trying to perform surgery in your bathroom; you just want to feel warm. Trading a bit of brightness for a lot of safety is a deal we’re happy to make every single time.
