Let’s be honest: putting infrared lamps in a chemical cleaning line is a bit like playing with fire. You’ve got flammable vapors floating around and corrosive chemicals that want to eat through everything. If you’re just using a naked quartz tube, you’re basically asking for trouble. That’s why we wrap our elements in custom stainless steel housings. It keeps the heat where it belongs and keeps the dangerous stuff away from the lamp. No accidental ignitions, no chemical splashes ruining your gear. Just peace of mind. The build Depending on how nasty your cleaning agents are, we use either 304 or 316L stainless steel. The housing is basically a shield. It stops those volatile gases from ever touching the hot quartz surface. But here’s the tricky part: the gap. We spend a lot of time getting the space between the tube and the steel wall just right. If it’s too tight, the tube expands as it heats up, hits the wall, and snap. Gone. We make sure there’s enough breathing room for the metal to move without breaking the lamp. Locking it down We can’t let vapors sneak into your electrical connections. That’s a recipe for a bad day. To stop that, we use high-temp gaskets and sealed cable entries. We also use cabling that can take a beating. It won’t melt or crack, even when it’s heating up and cooling down a hundred times a day. We treat the whole thing as a closed system. This stops the “wicking” effect—where fumes basically crawl along the wire straight into your power supply. The trade-off Now, there is a catch. Adding a steel shell means you’re putting a barrier between the heat and your parts. You lose a bit of that direct “punch” you get from an open lamp. To make up for it, you’ll probably need to bump up the wattage or let your parts soak in the heat for a little longer. It’s a small price to pay for not having your equipment explode. Getting it on the floor Setting these up is easy. They’re designed to drop right into your existing IR banks. We include mounting brackets so you can tweak the focal point until it’s perfect. One quick tip: make sure your ventilation is actually doing its job. If you pull the vapors away from the gaskets, those seals will last way longer. Simple as that.
