
Why Your Old Bathroom Heater Just Isn’t Cutting It
We’ve all been there. You step out of a hot shower into a bathroom that feels like a walk-in freezer. You flip the switch on those old-school heat lamps, but they barely do anything besides glow a dim orange while you shiver. The problem is that those basic heaters try to warm up the air. But in a drafty bathroom, that warm air just vanishes the second you crack the door. That’s why we’re seeing everyone switch over to waterproof infrared heaters.
Dealing with the Steam
Bathrooms are brutal on electronics. Between the steam and the constant condensation, standard heaters tend to corrode or just plain short out. It’s a nightmare. Now, these things pack a punch. Because they get hot fast, they put out a lot of concentrated energy. Just keep in mind that you can’t tuck them right up against a plastic wall or a cheap cabinet. Give them some breathing room so you don’t accidentally scorch your vanity.
Getting it Installed
One thing to watch out for: you can’t just plug these into a random old outlet and hope for the best. High-wattage infrared arrays need their own dedicated circuit. If you try to daisy-chain them, you’re just asking for a tripped breaker. We always suggest wiring them directly into the mains with a proper GFCI. It’s the only way to make sure everything stays safe in a room full of water.
